When the curtain goes up at the Miracle Theater in Pigeon Forge, you know within the first few moments that you’re experiencing a different kind of Smoky Mountains entertainment. Cast members fly down to the stage over the heads of the audience, live animals come and go, and actors engage in aerial battle high above the stage. From a pure production standpoint, what takes place on the Miracle stage rivals what one might see on Broadway.  

But this particular show has a lot of depth to back up the eye candy, because it tells with maximum visual and emotional impact the story of the life of Jesus Christ. The Miracle takes audiences through many of the most memorable events in the life of Christ, even beginning with creation, and following the savior through his birth, ministry, death and triumphant resurrection.  

Far from what one might consider a traditional Christmas pageant or Passion Play kind of production, The Miracle is more comparable to “Phantom of the Opera” or “Les Miserables” in terms of sets, lights, music and talent level of cast members.

Distinguished by top-quality actors and singers and high production values—such as aerial fight scenes—the presentation is enhanced by a strong original musical score as well as horses, camels, sheep and other live animals that make frequent appearances throughout the show.  

Guests interested in getting a closer look at the animals can actually ride the theater’s Arabian camels at Noah’s Ark Animal Park, located directly in front of the theater. The Miracle Theater also offers backstage tours of preshow areas and its stable of animals.
