For nearly 15 years, the Comedy Barn Theater in Pigeon Forge has consistently filled its seats, week in and week out, thanks to a show rooted in clean, family-oriented entertainment. And while comedy is at the heart of the production, it’s really more of a true variety show, featuring everything from stand-up comedians to fire eaters, jugglers, ventriloquists and trained animal performers. Tying this fast-paced show together is a live band that performs country and gospel numbers between segments.
What makes the comedy fare fresh over time is that the cast of comedians, musicians and variety acts manage to keep their shtick invigorated day after day, which is no small feat considering that the Comedy Barn Theater is open throughout the year. Also, individual cast members and the different routines usually change from show to show, ensuring that repeat guests are bound to discover something new with each visit.
The multimillion-dollar Comedy Barn Theater, which has repeatedly been voted as the funniest show in the Smokies in a local newspaper readers’ poll, is open on a limited schedule in January and February and then daily through the end of the year. Anywhere from one to three performances are presented each operational day.
